The National Unity Platform’s (NUP) vetting process for the Kawempe North constituency by-election has taken an unusual turn.
Alex Luswa Luwemba, former personal assistant to the late Muhammad Ssegirinya, visited Ssegirinya’s grave to ask for his support in securing the party ticket.
This move has been perceived as a publicity stunt, leaving many puzzled about Luwemba’s motivations. The Kawempe North parliamentary seat became vacant following Ssegirinya’s passing on January 9, 2025.
At the grave Former Segirinya Muhammad’s Assistant Muhammad Luswa Luwemba asked the late Segirinya not to rest until he was endorsed by the National Unity platform.
The National Unity Platform president Hon Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert announced Tuesday 11th of February when the flag bearer will be announced.
The Electoral Commission has set March 13, 2025, as the polling day for the by-election.
