Youth Minister Balaam Barugahare in hot soup following R@pe allegations

Activist Nana Mwafirika has publicly accused Minister Balam Barugahara of sexual assault, alleging the incident occurred several years ago. Mwafirika, known for her advocacy efforts, provided detailed information regarding the alleged incident.

“Balaam you raped me & I have carried the burden of that night for years.

It would be reassuring to know you haven’t or won’t do the same to the Youth you are minister of. You ought to seek forgiveness not from me from the Lord.” Activist Nana Mwafirika posted on X.

While these allegations require further investigation and verification, concerns have been raised regarding the appointment of individuals with questionable records to positions of authority by the Museveni regime that it wouldn’t be surprising if it were true.

This issue should spark a debate about the vetting process for public officials in Uganda.

Allegations of rape and indecent behavior leveled against Minister Balam Barugahara by activist Nana Mwafirika, have taken a new twist with additional individuals coming forward to accuse the minister of similar misconduct.

Political activist and former Makerere Lecturer Dr. Stella Nyanzi is among the people who have come out to bear witness of allegations, saying she was informed of the matter by the victim and she is happy that the victim has got the courage to come public.

“Rapist Balaam Barugahare is the Minister of Youth and Children. When my friend Nallongo told me that Balaam raped her, I held her revelations in trust. Now that she has publicly come out about the rape, I publicly condemn Balaam for being a rapist.” Nyanzi tweeted

After several developments, Minister Barugahara reportedly sent a private message to Mwafirika, denying the allegations and inquiring as to why she was making what he termed as false claims.

The accusations against Minister Barugahara should spark concerns regarding his fitness for office, particularly given his role in overseeing gender and child affairs.
